High Point University is committed to providing some of the finest residential communities and options in private higher education in the country. With over 75% of our entering freshmen coming from 45 states other than North Carolina and many foreign countries, High Point University is by design a very residential campus. All of our students are required to reside on campus until they have reached senior status, unless they commute from their parent's permanent address.

Living on campus within a student-focused, caring community provides wonderful opportunities for students to get involved in all areas of academic and campus life.

High Point University provides an environment where students can thrive both in and out of the classroom. Our Residential Communities are a big component of the campus life at High Point University, and the Office of Student Life takes pride in the support that we are able to offer our students through our Residential Communities.

To assist each student while residing on our campus we have professional full time Resident Directors that reside in certain buildings across campus. This Resident Director is responsible for the basic maintenance, cleanliness, disciplinary, and day to day operation of his or her residence hall(s).

Each hall/floor has a resident assistant. Resident Assistants are upperclassmen students who serve as a para-professional staff member. Resident Assistants have been carefully selected and trained to serve as role models, peer helpers, and provide information to their residents. Resident Assistants run hall programs to support their residential community, serve as a liaison between the student and the Student Life Staff, and if necessary, write disciplinary reports to help the Student life staff constructively correct violations of the High Point University Conduct Code.

We have staff on call 24/7 to assist with student needs anytime of the day or night. Each building has Resident Assistants that are on duty each night. These Resident Assistants assist with nightly incidents ranging from students who do not feel well to opening a door for a student that has forgotten their key. In addition to the Resident Assistants who are on duty, there are also two Resident Directors who are on duty each night as well. If a student needs to go to the Doctor, ER, is having a roommate conflict, we are there to support and assist how we can.

Our door is always open to our students when there are concerns or issues that need positive resolution. Our office is located on the third floor of the Slane Student Center. We are open daily from 8:30am - 5pm.
